The Nature Coast Marine Group is a community organisation established to
protect the marine environment in the Eurobodalla area on the NSW south coast
The NCMG contributes to scientific research through marine life surveys and monitoring and advocates for protection of the environment through contact with decision-makers, submissions to consultations and participation in meetings. We are very active in promoting local media coverage of the marine environment, highlighting the Nature Coast’s amazing marine life and the need for marine conservation. The NCMG introduces children and youth to their marine environment, in cooperation with local schools, the Eurobodalla Shire Council and the Marine Park Authority and organises events, outdoor adventures, talks and film screenings to empower, intrigue and educate.
Advocates for Marine Sanctuaries
Five sanctuary zones in the Batemans Marine Park have been wound back without public consultation.
The NCMG Team
We are a community organisation promoting the protection, enjoyment and understanding of coastal, estuarine and marine environments on the far south coast of New South Wales.
Australian Marine Sciences Association (AMSA)
AMSA is Australia’s largest professional association of marine scientists, with more than 700 members nationally. AMSA has three times (2007, 2012, 2019) put out position statements endorsing marine protected areas in which no extraction activities take place as "vital to the conservation of Australia’s marine biodiversity and biomass".
