A series of public meetings facilitated by Coastcare, focusing initially on conservation of the grey nurse shark, has led to concerned members of the Eurobodalla Shire coming together to express broader interests regarding the future of our marine life along the Eurobodalla Nature Coast.
It was decided by those attending the third meeting on 13 December to form a marine conservation group, aptly named the Nature Coast Marine Group (NCMG).
The key objective of the NCMG is to actively promote the protection and understanding of coastal, estuarine and marine environments in the Eurobodalla.
Other aims of the NCMG include:
The Nature Coast Marine Group plans to work closely with Coastwatchers and other organisations, such as the Sapphire Coast Marine Discovery Centre, who similarly care for our marine life. The group also intends to provide information and educational activities that will be open to members of the public, and who may also be interested in joining the NCMG.
Activities planned include: film nights, field trips and social events to make caring for our precious marine life interesting and fun.
