The invitation....
We will be running a range of snorkeling activities over the warmer months.
For those who may not have done much snorkeling in the past, we will run snorkeling courses on demand.
Snorkeling is a fun way to see the fish, marine mammals, larger invertebrates and marine habitats that make our coast such a great part of the world. Snorkeling is pretty easy and is suitable for all ages, men and women, boys and girls. Anyone who is reasonably comfortable in the water can snorkel and the only essential equipment is mask, snorkel and fins. While not absolutely essential, a wetsuit makes things much more comfortable. The water is warming up and is now around 19 degrees. Sun protection is also an issue. If you don't have a wetsuit, it is a good idea to wear a T shirt and apply sunscreen to the back of your neck and legs.
We meet at the carpark at the end of Red Hill Pde at 10.30 am on Wednesday 14 January. Snorkelling is usually best on a high tide, which on the 14th will be at 11.30. Anyone interested, just turn up. If you are a bit late we will be entering the water from the beach to the west of the carpark. I will be happy to review snorkeling skills with anyone who feels they need it. The weather is looking OK - hot with northerly winds, which should flatten things out at Tomakin.
We will give you a briefing beforehand on safety issues and what you might expect to see. The event will be weather dependent, and we may need to fine tune closer to the time.
Please let us know soon if you intend to be there and send us your mobile number if you have one so that we can get in touch with you if there are any last-minute weather related issues.
Anyone who has any queries about snorkeling, equipment or training courses, please contact us.
