Dear members

This is a reminder of our camping weekend, Friday 28th - Sunday 30th November at the Beachcomber Holiday Park, Blackfellow Point. We look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible. For those who can't stay for the whole weekend, we would be pleased to see you for a day, a part of a day or an evening - up to you.

As we mentioned earlier, Blackfellow Point is a beautiful spot with a nice beach in front and a magnificent Spotted Gum and Burrawang forest behind. There are resident kangaroos and wallabies, with interesting bird life, including emus and sea eagles. Tuross Lake is just five minutes walk away. The caravan park has a meeting room, an interesting permanent display of fossils and even a coffee shop with views.

The weekend is essentially an opportunity for people to have a good time in good company. As such we don't want to over-organise things. However, we have a rough schedule, and people can take part or not as they wish.

Friday afternoon
Set up camp
Guided beach walk to see nest sites of the endangered little terns on Tuross Lake (bring binoculars) or beach combing (low tide 0.3m at 4pm)
Friday evening
Social get-together, including a talk by NPWS shorebirds co-ordinator Amy Harris on shorebirds, particularly those that are endangered (there is a meeting room at the holiday park)
Saturday morning
Snorkel at Blackfellow or Potato Pt / dive at Potato Pt (high tide 1.8m at 9.50am) - depending on weather
Saturday afternoon
Rock walk at Blackfellow Pt or Potato Pt (low tide 0.4m at 4.30pm)
Saturday afternoon or evening
Workshop on identification of common marine species (depending on demand) - particularly for snorkelers and divers, but for anyone interested. Also a chance for those who took photos at the Narooma Wharf night dive/snorkel to talk about what they saw. Bring flash drives or photo cards - there is a computer.
Sunday Morning
Snorkel / dive at Potato Pt (high tide 1.7m at 10.30am) - depending on weather
Sunday Afternoon
Break camp

For those wanting to do their own thing, the surf beach in front beckons and there are lots of pleasant walks in the area. There are also opportunities for canoeing or kayaking on the lake for those so inclined (and who have their own gear).

For those who want to check out the Holiday Park, visit their website - www.beachcomberpark.com.au or give them a call on 4473 5312. Unpowered camp sites are $26 per couple per night, kids $7.
